Supreme Court to hear PM Gilani’s appeal on Thursday
ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court (SC) has formed an eight-member bench headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry to hear an intra court appeal filed by the counsel of Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani, Barrister Aitzaz Ahsan in the contempt case for hearing, Geo News reported.
Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry issued a short order saying the hearing could not be fixed on the requested date of February 10 because of prior engagements and could be fixed for February 09.
Barrister Aitzaz filed the appeal against the apex court's order summoning the Prime Minister Gilani on February 13 to indict him in the contempt of court case.
In the appeal, he had pleaded before the court to set aside its order of February 2 as well as recall the contempt notice served on him for not implementing the court's order on the controversial National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO).
