PML-N to bring about real change: Nawaz
* PML-N president says some elements raising ‘hollow’ slogans for change
MULTAN: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Nawaz Sharif said on Tuesday his party would bring about a “real and practical change” in the country and put it on the road to progress and prosperity.
Addressing a ceremony to distribute laptops among students at Bahauddin Zakariya University, he said the PML-N had brought about changes in the country during its previous tenures. He said that some elements were raising “hollow” slogans for change. “Efforts are being made to change cultural values in the name of politics,” he added.
He said the PML-N had a revolutionary thinking as it had showed it in its previous tenures by launching different development projects and “taking the country on top in progress and prosperity in the whole region”.
Nawaz Sharif said that Pakistan was ahead of India during his tenures. “Both our governments were dislodged due to the revolutionary stance of the party. The PML-N will compensate for injustice done to people of the country,” he said.
The former prime minister recalled that the PML-N had launched an optic fibre project 21 years ago. He said that laptops were being distributed on merit. “The Punjab government will offer another 300,000 laptops to students after June as the PML-N always attaches preference to education for development,” he said.
He also congratulated Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif for launching schemes for the uplift of the education sector. He also paid tribute to late Arfa Kareem and said an IT tower had been named after her.
The PML-N chief said his party was ready to spend a huge amount to educate people. He said he was happy that a guard of honour had been presented to intelligent and hardworking students. He urged students to concentrate on their students and respect their teachers and parents. He said he would hold talks with the Punjab chief minister on establishing a University of Engineering and Technology and an Agriculture University in Multan.
The PML-N said that he would also ask the chief minister to launch a project for the provision of WiFi connections to students at their homes. He regretted that hurdles were being created in the way of public-welfare projects, adding, “Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif is determined to overcome all obstacles to serve people”.
MNA Rana Mehmoodul Hassan, Adviser to CM Zulfiqar Khosa, Senator Pervez Rasheed, Minister Haji Ehsanuddin Qureshi, MPAs Aamir Ansari and Abdul Waheed Aarain were also present. app
