Nawaz links 20th Amend to independent EC
BAHAWALPUR: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Nawaz Sharif said on Wednesday that unless his party’s demand for an “independent” Election Commission (EC) was met, there would remain an impasse on the issue of the 20th Amendment Bill. Speaking to the media, he also linked an agreement on the 20th Constitutional Amendment to the holding of early elections. About bogus votes in electoral lists, Nawaz Sharif said that it was EC’s negligence that had stirred a “serious crisis”, adding that the EC should be held responsible if charges against it were proved. He said the government would have been in a better position had it held elections earlier. He also advocated his support for the creation of a Bahawalpur province on administrative grounds. agencies.
