Missing persons case: SC adjourns hearing till Feb 13
ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court Friday summoning Defence Secretary and Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on February 13, issued directives to produce remaining seven prisoners who went missing from the Adiala jail before the court on Monday.
The three-member bench of the apex court, comprising of Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry, Justice Khilji Arif Hussain and Justice Tariq Parvez heard the case on Friday.
During the hearing, the court remarked that DG ISI, DG MI and JAG branch were responsible for implementing court orders and will be responsible for producing the missing prisoners before the SC on Feb 13.
Earlier, the court directed the counsel of intelligence agencies to produce the prisoners held at Parachinar internment center by 07:00 pm today.
The counsel for the intelligence agencies informed the Supreme Court's (SC) associate that three of the seven prisoners who were being kept at a detention facility in Parachinar could not be air lifted due to bad weather and were being brought to Islamabad via road.
However, Met office said that the weather is fair enough for lifting prisoners via helicopter.
The remaining four who were receiving treatment at the Lady Reading Hospital in Peshawar were being shifted. The apex court was later informed that all seven prisoners would be brought to the Federal Capital together.
The hearing has been adjourned till February 13.
