Lahore factory collapse: Search operation concludes

LAHORE: The operation to remove debris of the collapsed factory in Lahore has concluded after five days, Geo News reported Friday.

The toll in the building collapse incident reached 24 on Thursday while 16 injured persons were shifted to hospital for treatment. Rescue and search teams halted work on Friday morning after the debris was cleared from the incident site.

On Monday, Januray 06, a three-storey building of a pharmaceutical company collapsed due to boiler explosion. Three other houses alongside the building were also razed. Rescue teams faced severe difficulty in carrying out the rescuing operation through heavy machines due to narrow lanes and lack of adequate machinery.

Police has registered the case against two brothers, Shaikh Zaheer and Shaikh Zafar, who are the owners of the factory and are still at large. However, factory manager Muneer was arrested.
