Elaborate security to be ensured for PM’s hearing: MalikISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Rehman Malik on Saturday said that elaborate security measures have been ordered in the federal capital, especially at the Diplomatic Enclave and its outer cordon.
Talking to reporters after chairing a meeting held to review law and order situation in the city, the minister said that he had reviewed overall arrangements and had issued directions for further improvement in them.
To a question, he said registrar of the Supreme Court would be consulted for finalising security arrangements on the appearance of the prime minister before the apex court.
He said that utmost efforts would be made not to block any road so as to avoid inconvenience to citizens, however, alternate routes will be specified in case it was compulsory to block any road.
Malik said it had been ordered to enhance checking around the Diplomatic Enclave as well outer cordon. He appreciated the Islamabad police for ensuring effective security arrangements in the city and directed to use all available resources to protect life and property of the citizens.
To a question regarding the Balochistan situation, the minister said that his statement in the Senate was ‘message’ for all national and political leadership to unite and evolve consensus to overcome challenges being confronted in the province.
He said that the Senate and National Assembly were supreme forums and veteran politicians as well as leaders should constitute a committee or delegation to talk with ‘angry people’. The minister said that he was ready for in-camera briefing to the Senate about this particular situation.
To arrest the killers of family members of MPA Mir Bukhtiar Domki, the minister said that he had issued directions to all inspectors general and other officials to cooperate with the Sindh inspector general of police. Malik said that he had also asked Balochistan Chief Minister Nawab Aslam Raisani to make efforts for bringing down those ‘angry friends’ taken positions in mountains. app
