Senate defers 20th Amendment Bill
ISLAMABAD: The Senate on Friday deferred 20th Constitutional Amendment Bill although it was present in the agenda, Geo News reported.
According to details, the bill was deferred because ANP, JI and JUI-F staged a walkout from the senate.
Leader of the House in Senate Nayyar Hussain Bukhari said that they wanted to develop consensus with all parties.
It may be noted here that President Asif Ali Zardari had summoned the session of the Senate with one-point agenda of passage of the 20th Amendment Bill today.
The landmark 20th Amendment Bill was approved unanimously by the National Assembly on Tuesday.
Once the bill is cleared by the upper house of parliament, it would be sent to the president whose signature on it would make it an Act of Parliament.
The session of the Senate is underway with Chairman Farooq H Naek in chair.
