BISP introduces Benazir Card in AJK

MUZAFFARABAD: The Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) has now introduced the Benazir Card in Azad Kashmir. The card is expected to be introduced in other parts of the country as well.

The beneficiary families would now be able to get their monthly cash grant not only from BISP delivery centres but also through ATM machines.

While addressing the card launching ceremony, Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Prime Minister Chaudhry Abdul Majeed thanked federal government and Chairperson BISP BISP, Farzana Raja, for initiating the card scheme in the region. He said that BISP is playing vital role of empowering women and added that the programme is a practical manifestation of the dreams and vision of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto.

He lauded Farzana Raja for her efforts in making the programme a success.

AJK Assembly Deputy Speaker Shaheen Kauser Dar, Minister for Education Matloob Inqalabi and Minister for Forestry Javed Ayub also spoke on the occasion and said that BISP is striving to achieve the vision of Beanzir Bhutto in true sense.

Shaheen Dar, while acknowledging the abilities of Farzana Raja, said that the credit for this successful venture goes to her untiring efforts.

She said that BISP is a national asset and it is serving underprivileged segments of society in the country indiscriminately.

BISP Regional Director Chaudary Muhammad Ishaque earlier explained the utility of Benazir Card and said that the beneficiary women will be able to receive their money through ATM without hassle of waiting for money orders.

He said that Benazir Card allows transparent as well as a speedy transaction and it is the first time that underprivileged people of the country will benefit from such technology.

He urged BISP beneficiary women to contact NADRA, Alfalah Bank and Ufone counters established in BISP Regional Office to obtain their cards. online
