Shahbaz expresses resentment over US resolution on Balochistan

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has expressed deep anger and resentment over the resolution presented in the US Congress regarding Balochistan. In a statement on Saturday, the chief minister warned those who prepared the resolution that Pakistan should not be considered a US state, rather it was a sovereign and an independent country. He said that explanatory statement by the US State Department regarding this resolution was not sufficient. Shahbaz said that the resolution, based on prejudice and mala fide, had saddened Pakistanis who were already hurt by drone attacks. He said that problems of Balochistan were the problems of Pakistan and “we will not allow any country to challenge our sovereignty under the garb of these problems”. He said that the resolution had been tabled in the enmity of Pakistan rather than sympathy with Balochistan. The chief minister questioned on what grounds American officials talked about human rights, while they unconditionally supported dictator Pervez Musharraf who killed a great Baloch leader, Abkar Bugti, and innocent students in Lal Masjid. staff report
