Hina Rabbani Khar talks with UK MPs of Pakistani origin
LONDON: Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar on Monday said Pakistan's relations with United Kingdom were exemplary as the country had always extended assistance according to Pakistan's needs and through its own system.
She said that UK's approach towards Pakistan could be best described as "say less and do more".
She was talking to British Pakistani Parliamentarians at a lunch here. "Pakistan- UK relations are based on mutual respect and mutual interest," she said.
The Minister also briefed the parliamentarians on the internal situation in Pakistan vis-à-vis the strengthening of democratic institutions in the country.
The Minister said the process of institutional building in Pakistan was irreversible which could be seen in the way the parliament of Pakistan restored the original constitution.
The parliamentarians lauded the role of the Parliament of Pakistan in helping to determine the national policies on all major issues in the interest of the people.
She also acknowledged the role played by the Government and the people of the UK in assisting Pakistan economically, commercially, and educationally.
Those who attended the luncheon meeting were Ms Yasmeen Qureshi MP, Sajjad Karim MEP, Sadiq Khan MP, Lord Tariq Ahmed and Lord Qurban Hussain.
Pakistan High Commissioner Wajid Shamasul Hasan and other Pakistani officials also attended the lunch. (APP)
