PPP, MQM agree on Senate seats in Sindh


KARACHI: Coalition partners in Sindh have an agreement for the distribution of 12 Senate seats in the province, sources said.

According to the sources, seven members of PPP, four members of MQM and one member of PML-F would be elected unopposed as senators.

Under the formula designed by the coalition parties in Sindh, PPP would get four general seats and one seat each of technocrats, women and minorities. MQM would have two general seats, and one seat each of technocrats and minorities. PML-F would receive one general seat.

PPP senior leader Syed Khursheed Shah are having talks with likeminded groups for the withdrawal of their nomination papers submitted as independent candidates.

Likeminded groups would likely withdraw their nomination papers after which Raza Rabbani, Saeed Ghani, Ajiz Dhamara and Karim Khwaja from PPP would be elected on general seats. Abdul Hafeez Shaikh, Muddasir Sehar and Hari Erum would get elected for technocrats, women and minorities seats respectively, sources added.
