43 Senate seats up for election: Election Commission


ISLAMABAD: The senate elections are scheduled to take place on March 2 and 98 candidates will contest 43 seats.

According to the Election Commission of Pakistan, 11 candidates have already been elected to Senate seats unopposed.

PPP candidate Usman Saifullah has been elected to the general seat from Islamabad while Mushaid Hussain from the PML-Q has been elected to the technocrat seat.

PPP leaders Aitzaz Ahsan and PML-N leader Ishaq Dar have been elected to two senate technocrat seats in Punjab.

PML-N leader Nuzhat Sadiq and PPP leader Khalida Parveen have been elected to the women’s senate seats in the province while Kamran Michael from the PML-N has been elected to the minority seat.

In Sindh, Abdul Hafeez Sheikh from the PPP and Barrister Farogh Naseem of the MQM were elected to the technocrat seats.
