Balochistan issue could be solved through LG system: JPJM
QUETTA: Jeevay Pakistan Jeevay Muqami Hakoomat (JPJM) Chairman and former chairman of National Reconstruction Bureau (NRB) Daniyal Aziz has said that restoration of local government system and judiciary and lawyers’ role might pull Balochistan out of present crisis.
Addressing a gathering of lawyers at Balochistan High Court Bar room on Thursday, he said that Blaochistan is going through difficult times, and needs support from the whole nation.
In such circumstances, lawyers should come forward and play their role to resolve the province’s problems on priority, he added. Appreciating the role of Balochistan’s judiciary, he said, “Balochistan High Court is giving historic decisions, like withdrawing magisterial powers from commissioners, though it has been challenged in Supreme Court of Pakistan.”
He opined that the local government system could prove a remedy to increasing problems of Balochistan, but the provincial government was not holding elections deliberately. He urged the lawyers to play their role for holding of local government elections.
“We cannot leave people of Balochistan at the mercy of deputy commissioner, who enjoys executive and judicial powers at the same time,” Daniyal added. He said the so-called democratic rulers kept Baloch people deprived of their rights, given by the constitution and local government system. pr
