ECP takes notice of slapping of polling staff


ISLAMABAD: Secretary Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) Ishtiaq Ahmed, taking notice of the beating of staff at a polling station of PS-53 on Saturday, sought a report in this regard from Election Commissioner Sindh.

Talking to Geo News Ishtiaq Ahmed said no one could be allowed to beat the polling staff.

He said a report had been sought from provincial Election Commissioner who had also been directed to record statement of the presiding officer slapped by the Pakistan People's Party candidate.

The Secretary ECP said action would be taken against the people responsible for the incident upon submission of the said report.

"Providing protection to the polling staff is the responsibility of the ECP," he said.
