PTI protests desecration of holy Quran

QUETTA: A protest rally was held outside the Quetta Press Club on Saturday to condemn the desecration of the holy Quran by the US troops in Afghanistan. A large number of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) workers took part in the demonstration to condemn the incident that they said hurt the sentiments of Muslims. The protesters were holding placards and banners inscribed with slogans “down with America”. The participants raised slogans against the US drone strikes and also set US flag on fire to express their anger. Addressing the protesters, PTI leaders Shakeel Ahmed and others strongly condemned the act of the Quran burning in the US-run military base in Afghanistan. They said that Untied States had always been involved in hatching conspiracies against the Muslim Ummah and this incident was another proof of its anti-Muslim mentality. They said that it was not the first incident of desecration of the holy Quran by American soldiers rather such shameful incidents were also committed in the past. They said that Muslims did not want apology of US President Barack Obama rather stern action should be taken against the responsible. They lashed out at the government and said that it was serving the US interests instead of listening to their own people. They said that presence of America in this region was aimed at destabilising Pakistan and asked all Muslim countries to create unity among their ranks to frustrate nefarious designs against Muslims. staff report
