Gilani Contempt case: SC summons Nargis Sethi as witness on Aitzaz plea
ISLAMABAD: A seven-member bench of the apex court, headed by Justice Nasirul Mulk resumed the hearing the contempt of court case against Prime Minister Gilani Tuesday and summoned Nargis Sethi as witness in the case.
The hearing was adjourned till March 07.
On Monday, Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani's counsel Aitzaz Ahsan submitted the reply in the Supreme Court in the contempt of court case.
Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani had requested the Supreme Court to summon Secretary Defence and Cabinet Division Nargis Sethi, former Law Minister Babar Awan and Secretary Law Masood Chishti as witnesses in the contempt of court case against him.
During today's proceedings, defence counsel Aitzaz Ahsan said my defense is that the prime minister never intended to act in contempt of court adding that he was bound to act on the Law Ministry's advice.
'The PM be granted a chance to provide a complete defense.'
Justice Munir asked the counsel whether the prime minister sought independent legal advice.
During the last hearing, Attorney General Molvi Anwar-ul-Haq, who is the prosecutor in the case, submitted evidence to the court against the prime minister.
