Senate pushes govt to publish names of dual national judges
ISLAMABAD: The Senate adopted a resolution pushing the government to publish the names of judges of the superior judiciary having dual nationality.
The resolution was moved by Farhatullah Babar.
Leader of the House Raja Zafar ul Haq said when the issue was raised in the past‚ the Supreme Court had informed that there was no ban on dual nationality of judges.
Federal Shariat Court and Balochistan High Court had informed that none of their judges held dual nationality.
Another resolution moved by Barbar was adopted by the house, calling upon the government to revisit the Official Secrets Act 1923 to make it consistent with the constitutionally guaranteed right to information‚ fair trial and fundamental rights.
The house also passed one more resolution moved by Syed Tahir Hussain Mashhadi recommending the government to take effective steps for narcotics control in the country.
