NAB opposes Zardari’s acquittal plea in references

ISLAMABAD: National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has submitted its rejoinder against the petition filed seeking acquittal of the former president Asif Ali Zardari in all the five references against him on Monday here, Geo News reported.

The Accountability Court Judge Mohammad Bashir was hearing the five NAB references against Asif Ali Zardari here.

NAB Additional Prosecutor, Akbar Tarar submitted the rejoinder against the petition filed by the accused seeking acquittal in all the five references.

It may be recalled that during the previous hearing Asif Ali Zardari’s counsel, Farooq H. Naek had filed the petitions for acquittal of his client in the references that included polo ground, SGS, Cotecna, ARY and Ursus tractors. The petitioner made a plea that neither any solid evidence nor any witness exist against his client Asif Ali Zardari and, therefore, prayed to the court for his acquittal order.

Later, talking to the media Faruque H. Naek said that NAB has opposed the acquittal plea of Asif Ali Zarddari adding NAB would be presenting new witnesses and he would argue against the NAB rejoinder in the next hearing to be held on February 24.
