PPP yet to decide Bilawal’s future as parliamentarian, says Gilani
By Kashif Hussain
LAHORE: The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has made no decision about its Patron-in-chief Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s future as a parliamentarian, former prime minister Yousaf Raza Gilani said on Monday.
Speaking to reporters, he also refuted “rumours” of PPP joining the federal government of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).
He said the issue of a separate province in southern Punjab still existed as it was not his idea but voice of the people of Saraiki belt for their due rights.
About power load shedding in Punjab, Gilani said that load shedding was still ongoing in the province and the PML-N government in Punjab had exploited the issue to topple the last government. He also criticised “judicial activism” during his tenure as premier.
Gilani said cases against former president Gen (r) Pervez Musharraf should be opened from October 12, 1999 when he launched a military coup against a democratic government.
The former prime minister also said he prayed for the success of proposed peace talks with the Taliban.
Earlier, a British delegation led by British High Commissioner to Pakistan Philip Barton met Gilani and discussed issues related to politics and the war on terror, sources said.
