PUC publishes book to guide scholars, clerics
LAHORE: The Pakistan Ulema Council (PUC) has published a book entitled “Modern-day issues in the light of the sermons of the leaders” to provide guidance to scholars and clerics.
The book elaborates on modern-day issues in the light of the holy Quran, Sunnah and sermons of Islamic leaders. It uses the sermon of Hajjatul Wida as a guide to present Friday sermons of the entire year in an organised form. The book talks about everything from environment to the significance of casuistry. Likewise, not only does it compile sermons related to inter-faith and inter-sectarian dialogue but also talks about the negative impacts of acts like murder, kidnapping and spying.
The book also contains information on matters like women’s rights, girls’ education and difference between jihad and terrorism. Usually, these are the issues regarding which confusion and doubts are created. Responding to a question regarding this book, PUC Central Chairman Hafiz Muhammad Tahir Mahmood Ashrafi said that the council aims to raise full awareness among scholars and clerics about modern-day issues, so that they can guide the public on how to resolve modern-day issues in the light of the holy Quran and Sunnah.
The book talks in detail about issues such as religious tolerance and difference between real and imaginary meaning of jihad. “God willing, we will organise sessions for scholars, clerics, preachers and prayer leaders in the future to allow them to not only gain knowledge of al Quran and Sunnah but also benefit from the knowledge of the experts of modern subjects,” Ashrafi said.
He said that mosques and seminaries have a pivotal role to play when it comes to guiding the public, therefore, the PUC aims to ensure that the people associated with mosques and seminaries keep an eye on modern-day challenges and problems as well as seeking knowledge of the holy Quran and Sunnah. “This way, a positive change can be observed in society.”
