Peace dialogue: Govt committee meets ahead of Taliban talks

 

ISLAMABAD: A meeting of the government’s committee, constituted to initiate peace dialogue with the Taliban is underway in the federal capital.

All four members of the committee -- Irfan Siddiqui, Major (retd) Aamir, Rahimullah Yousafzai and Rustam Shah Mohmand-- are attending the meeting.

The coordinator of the committee, Irfan Siddiqui said they had made formal contact with the Taliban’s nominated committee and it is expected that the meeting would take place today.

He said in the first meeting bilateral issues and basic agenda would come under discussion.
