MQM announces day of mourning on Saturday

KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) has announced to observe a day of mourning on Saturday against the extra-judicial killings of its workers, Geo News reported.

This was announced by MQM leader Haider Abbas Rivzi while addressing a press conference at Nine Zero (90) on Friday.

Haider Abbas Rizvi appealed to traders and transporters to shut their business tomorrow.

The MQM leader said extra-judicial killing of party workers was being carried out. He said there was no information of 45 missing activists, adding he did not know whether missing workers were alive or in the custody of law enforcement agencies.

Haider Abbas further said Muhammad Suleman and his nephew were arrested by police from Korangi Crossing on Feb 03. He said according to post-mortem report of Suleman he was brutally tortured.

He also demanded human rights groups to take notice of the extra-judicial killings of MQM activists.

On the occasion, MQM leader Nasreen Jalil said Karachi police chief Shahid Hayyat should also be nominated in the FIR of party activist’s killing.
