Food minister denies flour shortage in Sindh

KARACHI: Provincial Minister for Food Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar said on Thursday that there was no flour shortage in any part of Sindh, including Hyderabad. Talking to media at his office, he said that some elements were spreading rumours about flour shortage. Dahar said that the government had provided wheat to all flourmills of Hyderabad as per requirement and there was no flour shortage at all. The food minister said 116,000 wheat bags were provided to flourmills every month. He said if anyone tried to create an artificial flour shortage in Sindh, the government would take stern legal actions against them. He said that Sindh food department was making efforts to ensure that flour was sold in open markets at government rates. The government could not be blackmailed as it was fully determined to take legal actions against those harassing people, he claimed, while clarifying , “no deduction in wheat of any city is being made.
