Altaf urges army chief to take notice of Rangers human rights violations

KARACHI: Reacting to a party worker’s arrest, which he termed as unlawful, Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s (MQM) London-based leader Saturday night urged the Chief of Army Staff, Gen Raheel Sharif, to immediately look into the human rights’ violations perpetrated by paramilitary troops, in Sindh, Geo News reported.

“Over the past few months, Rangers has extra-judicially copped a number of MQM workers, who remain unaccounted for until now. Why? Because the paramilitary troops are always denying they made those arrests”, he said in a statement issued from his London office.

Hussain added that it was not just the arrests, a number of MQM activists were also killed illegally.

“After arresting and then killing them, the bodies of our workers are thrown on the streets of Karachi. It must be stopped”, said he.

On top of urging the army to take notice of Rangers anti-human-rights practices, he also called on the government to take action to end the nerve-wracking mental torture the Mohajirs (Urdu-speaking migrants) were being subjected to through political victimization.
