Online
ISLAMABAD: The additional sessions judge has granted former president Gen (r) Pervez Musharraf exemption from appearing before the court in Ghazi Abdur Rasheed murder case.
Judge Wajid Ali heard the case related to the murder of Lal Masjid cleric Ghazi Abdur Rasheed on Saturday.
During the course of proceedings, Advocate Tariq Asad told the court that Advocate Anwar Mansoor had assured special court of Musharraf’s attendance on February 18, adding that a debate on exemption plea was not required then.
He said the sessions court should wait until Musharraf’s appearance before special court in the treason case.
Meanwhile, Advocate Ilyas Siddiqi said the nature of exemption plea filed in the Supreme Court was different, adding that he will present his arguments against Musharraf s permanent exemption at the next hearing.
Accepting the plea of Musharraf, the court granted exemption to the retired general and adjourned the hearing until February 15.
The next hearing will be held over the plea seeking permanent exemption for Musharraf from court appearances.
