Judges detention: ATC approves Musharraf’s exemption plea

ISLAMABAD: The anti-terrorism court (ATC) approved the petition seeking exemption from today’s hearing filed by former president General (retd) Pervez Musharraf in the judges detention case, Geo News reported Monday.

ATC judge Ateeq-ur-Rehman heard the exemption plea here today. Public prosecutor Amir Nadeem appeared in the court while Musharraf’s lawyer Ilyas Siddiqui along with two guarantors Rashid and Mushtaq were also present in today’s hearing.

Prosecutor Amir Nadeem objected on the persistent absence of Musharraf from the hearings and non-provision of his medical report and pleaded to initiate action against him and his guarantors.

On this, Musharraf’s lawyer Ilyas Siddiqui told the court that his client was ill and could not attend the hearing. He ensured to provide Musharraf’s medical record in next hearing.

The court, then, provided exemption to Pervez Musharraf from today’s proceedings and adjourned the case till February 24.
