MQM moves to SHC against police torture of party worker
KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Monday filed a petition in the Sindh High Court (SHC) against the police torture of its party worker Fahad Aziz, Geo News reported.
MQM’s counsel Dr. Farogh Nasim along with party leaders Dr. Faruque Sattar, Faisal Sabzwari and Fahad’s father filed the petition in SHC here.
Later talking to media, Faruque Sattar said that everyone knows that the police last night subjected Fahad Aziz to inhuman torture after arresting him when he as bridegroom was on way back with bride after wedding ceremony.
Faruque Sattar said that MQM in its petition filed today has also prayed that the Karachi police chief and Shahrah-e-Faisal SSP and SHO should be nominated in the FIR.
He further said that the police in plain clothes raid the houses of party workers and take them away. He said that a gang of policemen engaged in arresting the workers and then after heavy extortion (Bhatta) release them
He appealed to the human rights organisations and members of civil society to raise voice against the police highhandedness, third degree torture of party workers and make them missing in some cases.
