PM invites Turkish businessmen to become Pak development partners

ISTANBUL: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Friday invited the Turkish businessmen to become development partners of Pakistan and assured the government’s maximum facilitation to the investors.
Talking to the chairmen and CEOs of leading Turkish business groups here, the prime ,inister said Pakistan would encourage business partnership between Pakistan and Turkey in private sector as well. He highlighted the measures taken by his government that resulted in increasing the gross domestic product’s (GDP) quarterly rate from 2.9 to 5 percent, rise in Karachi Stock Exchange by 17 percent, increased foreign remittances and increased business activities.
“Our government plans to rise the GDP growth rate to above six percent and bringing more foreign investment in the energy, infrastructure, low-cost housing, municipal services, agro-based industry, information technology and textiles,” said the prime minister. The Turkish companies that met the prime minister included Mustafa Koc, Chairman Koc Group, Oguz Carmikli, Vice-Chairman Nurol Group, Hakan Ozman, CEO and Deputy Chairman of GAMA Holding, Nehat Ozdemir, Chairman Limak Holding, Ibrahim Cecin, Chairman IC Holding, Alp Yalcin Taskent, Chairman of STFA Ahmet Albayrak, Chairman of Albayrak Group, Ahmet Zorlu, Chairman of Zorlu Holdings, Korhan Kurdoglu, President of ATA Holding, Turgay Ciner, Chairman and CEO of Ciner Group.
The Koc group showed keen interest in investing in electrical appliances’ manufacturing, dairy development and bus manufacturing. In his meeting with the M/s Limak group, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said the Turkish companies would be given all possible help for setting up power plants. The company said that it had completed pre-requisites for investing in the wind energy, coal-fired power plants in Gaddani Power Park and construction of highways on BOT basis.
The NOROL group said they had explored investment projects of Dasu Hydropower Project, Lahore-Karachi Motorway and coal-based projects and hydropower projects. The prime minister expected that the group would finalise the technical examination of these projects and assured that their investment would be protected.
