Scholars discuss charter of peace

LAHORE: Religious scholars on Monday discussed in detail the charter of peace, education system at religious institutions and Carvan-e-Aman rally in different targeted districts of Punjab during a daylong meeting under the banner of FACES Pakistan and the Peace and Harmony Network Pakistan (PHNP).
After a detail discussion, a document on the charter of peace was signed. On the occasion, it was also decided that a Carvan-e-Aman rally would be arranged which would start from Lahore and visit different districts to promote peace, harmony and coexistence among different communities.
MPA Tariq Masih Gill assured the participants that the government would fully cooperate with the organisers of the Carvan-e-Aman rally. Addressing the audience, Javaid William urged religious scholars to play their positive role in promoting sectarian harmony and unity among people of different faiths. He also called upon the general public to maintain unity within their ranks. He described sectarian hatred and intolerance as a conspiracy against the peace-loving and peace-supporting people of Pakistan.
PHNP Chairman Allama Zubair Abid said that unfortunately, the image of religious institutions was presented negatively throughout the world.
