Adjournment motion filed in Senate

ISLAMABAD: An adjournment motion to discuss the plight of participants of a long march of Voice of Missing Baloch Persons was filed in the Senate on Wednesday by senators Farhatullah Babar Afrasiab Khattak and Zahid Khan.
The adjournment motion seeks to discuss the “harassment, intimidation and threats to the lives” of the participants of the long march while passing through Punjab on their way to Islamabad.
Participants of the long march have complained of harassment and intimidation by security agencies in Gujranwala to stop them from proceeding to Islamabad.
Senator Farhatullah Babar said that the Human Rights Committee of the Senate in its last meeting had decided to meet the marchers on their arrival in. He said that the long march had also not received the media attention it deserved.
Separately in a statement, civil society organisations, networks and individual rights activists have reacted with outrage to the news that Mama Qadeer Baloch is receiving serious threats and that the long march from Quetta to Islamabad, now in its last stage, is in imminent danger.
