NAPRA powers to be enhanced
ISLAMABAD: The federal government has decided to enhance the powers of NEPRA in order to take action against power companies violating NEPRA rules. According to sources, the government would make amendments to the 1997 NEPRA Act to increase fine on power companies and increase the regulatory control of the authority. Through the amendments to the law, the enforcement system of NEPRA would be made more effective. Sources said that after necessary vetting by the Law Ministry, the draft law would be presented before the federal cabinet for approval.
