Peace talks with Taliban are meaningless: Sharjeel
KARACHI: Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Memon said on Monday that the peace talks with Taliban are useless following their dastardly acts in Karachi and the assassination of 23 FC personnel. Talking to media here, he said if the Taliban want changes in the constitution, they should come forward and contest elections. “The nation has made decision and all are against the talks with them, hence the talks are meaningless now”, he said.
The minister told the media that the Sindh government was against the talks from the day one and the current situation proved that it was right. The whole nation has given its categorical decision over the issue of Taliban’s militancy that it supports Pakistan army, he said. Answering a question regarding Karachi operation, Memon said the operation was moving forward in the right direction and was not against any particular party.
Replying to a question, Memon said that he is not aware of any development about conclusive negotiation with Pakistan Muslim League-Functional (PML-F) and that the party would join the government. “Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) believes in politics of reconciliation and we are in contact with all political parties including MQM (Muttahida Qaumi Movement).” Doors are open for dialogues with all political parties, Memon added.
