PM orders timely completion of projects

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has ordered the timely and efficient completion of public development projects. Chairing a high-level meeting to review the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) at the Prime Minister House on Monday, Sharif endorsed the contination of development projects that will be beneficial to the general public. He expressed dissatisfaction at delays in a few projects in recent years, and said that such tardiness affects the government’s development agenda. The PM said that the best human resource officials should be appointed on merit to important ministries and vital projects to ensure their efficient and timely completion.
He directed the Planning Division to formulate an appropriate compensation mechanism based on market rates for outstanding employees. Referring to project procurement, the prime minister said that a framework should be developed to monitor procurements by third-party auditors in order to ensure a transparent process. He also directed Planning and Development Minister Prof Ahsan Iqbal to conduct a comprehensive review of the PSDP and report his findings. The meeting was also attended by Petroleum and Natural Resources Minister Jam Kamal Khan, Finance Secretary Dr Waqar Masood Khan, Planning Secretary Hassan Nawaz Tarar and other senior officials. app
