LCWU appointed convenor of Fatima Jinnah Awards


LAHORE: The Lahore College for Women University has been appointed as the convener of Fatima Jinnah Awards 2014 by the Women Development Department, government of Punjab. Fatima Jinnah Awards will be bestowed to eminent women from different walks of life in wake of celebrations of International Women Day celebrated on March 8th, 2014. Lahore College for Women University is the largest university for women in Asia. The Lahore College for Women University was established in 1922 and has more than 12,000 students at Intermediate, Bachelors, Masters and PhD level. In recent years Lahore College for Women University has signed important international linkages with British Council, Queen Mary University, The Chartered Institute of Management Accountant, Asian Institute of Technology Bangkok, UNESCO, Cultural Centre of Islamic Republic of Iran, PLAN International, ILO, University of Eifurd, Germany, University College London (through British Council INSPIRE funding), University of Warwick, Free linguistics Conference and University of Sydney. A‘Fatima Jinnah Awards Steering Committee’ under chairmanship of Vice Chancellor Lahore College for Women University has been formed by Women Development Department along with a ‘Fatima Jinnah Award Selection Committee’ under the chairmanship of Benazir Bhutto Chair, Lahore College for Women University. Sectors in which these awards will be given are Education, Health, Agriculture, Literature, Business Entrepreneurship, Social Work, Showbiz, Sports and Media. It is proposed to hold The Fatima Jinnah Award Ceremony at Governor House on March 14th, 2014.
