Dialogue remains government’s priority: Nisar

PESHAWAR: Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Thursday announced that dialogue remained the government's priority but incidents of violence would not be tolerated.

During a news conference, the interior minister stressed that an operation was not being carried out against the Taliban, adding that the government would not announce a unilateral ceasefire.

The interior minister told reporters that surgical strikes were being carried out and all stakeholders would be taken into confidence over the decision to launch an operation.

He reiterated that the government was committed to establish peace in the country and any hurdles in this process would be eliminated.

According to Nisar a framework to tackle terrorism had been formulated with provinces, intelligence and security agencies. He said important decisions had been made in meetings with the chief ministers and governors which would be unveiled soon.

Nisar told reporters Rs 3.2 billion would be spent on the security policy.
