Karachi: Man killed, wife injured in Rangers firing
KARACHI: A man was killed and his wife injured after Rangers reportedly opened fire in North Karachi on Friday.
According to reports, Rangers personnel opened fire in Nagan Chowrangi area near Siddiqu-e-Akbar Masjid, leaving a man dead and his wife injured.
Police said tension gripped the adjacent areas and business activities came to a grinding halt after the incident. Locals pelted the police and Rangers with stones in protest against the firing.
The injured wife said she was being assaulted by her husband when the Rangers intervened. She added that when her husband refused to stop the Rangers opened fire.
According to the Rangers spokesman, the man injured in the firing succumbed to his injuries at the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital and the incident was being investigated.
