Mamnoon, Maxima optimist about Pakistan's bright future
Queen praised CPEC, hopes it will bring prosperity, stability in region

ISLAMABAD - President Mamnoon Hussain and UN Secretary General's Special Advocate for Inclusive Finance for Development Queen Maxima of the Netherlands on Thursday expressed optimism that Pakistan's future was bright with the country heading on the path towards progress.

In a meeting held at Aiwan-e-Sadr, both the dignitaries viewed that the pace of progress could be further expedited by ensuring access of common man to the fruits of progress and financial resources.

The meeting was also attended by Queen's members of delegation, State Bank of Pakistan Governor Ashraf Mahmood Wathra, Ministry of Finance Secretary Dr Waqar Masood Khan and other high officials.

President Mamnoon said that overall situation in the country was improving with the economy stabilising and the benefits being passed on to the common man.

He said that the economic policies of Pakistan pivot on the inclusion of common man in the progress of the country adding that the country was endowed with the skilled human resource that could be utilised for the benefit of the country by facilitating their access to the financial resources.

The president said that Pakistan was a victim of the decades-old conflicts in the region and sixty thousand civilians and the officials of law enforcement agencies embraced martyrdom in its wake. In addition, Pakistan had borne the financial losses of more than $100 billion as a result of this turmoil.

He urged upon the World Bank and other international institutions to support Pakistan in surmounting the problems and to usher in prosperity in the country. On the occasion, Queen Maxima hoped that the benefits of economic policies initiated by the Government of Pakistan would be passed on to the common man to improve their living standard.

She appreciated the programmes started by the government in order to make the common man particularly women and youth play their due role in the society and said that these steps would bring positive results for the country. The Queen praised the China Pakistan Economic Corridor and hoped that it would bring prosperity and stability in the region.
