World Bank country director calls on finance minister

ISLAMABAD - World Bank Country Director Patchamuthu Illangovan called on Minister for Finance and Economic Affairs Senator Ishaq Dar here on Thursday and discussed matters of mutual interests.
Illangovan expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome and hospitality extended to the World Bank president and said Dr Jim Yong Kim was highly impressed by the progress made by Pakistan in terms of economic development during the last two years.
He said Dr Kim had asked the World Bank Country Office in Pakistan to work closely with the government for measures aimed at enhancing growth and increasing the ease of doing business. He said the World Bank president had noted with appreciation the way cooperative federalism works in Pakistan.
The minister also discussed with the country director, the initiatives for improving nutrition and promoting alternate energy who reiterated the commitment of the World Bank to finance these initiatives. Dar also exchanged views with Illongovan regarding several ongoing Projects being financed by World Bank.
