INP

ISLAMABAD: In a nationwide survey of Pakistani people 84.3% of the respondents have voted Chinese President Xi Jinping as “Statesman of the Year 2015.”

Adviser to Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Senator Sartaj Aziz said on Thursday that Pakistan and China have been enjoying exemplary and unique relationship of shared destiny and the people of Pakistan are proud of this friendship and China’s rapid economic progress. Addressing a special report’s launching ceremony at a local hotel, he said this relationship meets the common aspirations of the two countries’ people and ensures peace and development. The 100-page report contained a country-wide survey conducted by a local media house that showed popularity of Chinese President Xi Jinping in Pakistan. The function was also addressed by Chinese Ambassador Sun Weidong, Pakistan’s former ambassadors to China Akram Zaki, Khalid Masood and Masood Khan. The report also reflected overwhelming support to the Pak-China friendship by the people of Pakistan.

Senator Aziz paid glowing tributes to President’s Xi for his deep attachment with Pakistan. Xi appeared to be a visionary leader who focused more on developing a harmonious and prosperous society, he said, adding that his vision of “One Road and One Belt” and introduction of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) showed his far-sightedness, linking China with other regional countries for a win-win situation. Aziz hoped that CPEC will benefit the Pakistani people across the board. This flagship project is not only a road development network, but in fact provides a comprehensive framework for overall socio-economic development, he said while hoping that it will have a transformation impact on the region as a whole.

While referring to the survey, Ambassador Weidong noted that 84.3% of respondents in the country-wide survey voted President Xi Jinping as “Statesman of the Year 2015.” This report fully reflects the high esteem in which the Pakistani people hold the Chinese leadership. This also shows that China-Pakistan friendship is widely supported with a solid basis in Pakistan. Since assuming the office of General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) in November 2012, Xi Jinping initiated a series of guidelines and policies on governance of the state.

This set a clear course for China’s future development. He presented the Chinese Dream of prosperity of the country, rejuvenation of the nation and happiness of the people. It means that China will double the 2010 GDP and per capita income of urban and rural residents and accomplish the building of a society of moderate prosperity when the CPC celebrates its centenary in 2021. Sun Weidong further said that Chinese dream is closely shared with the dreams of Pakistan and other countries for happiness and prosperity. “Let’s make endeavours to achieve our common dreams and China is ready to make its own contributions for that,” he added.

To achieve this goal, General Secretary Xi proposed the policy of “Four Comprehensives”, namely, comprehensively building a moderately prosperous society, comprehensively deepening reform, comprehensively implementing the rule of law and comprehensively strengthening party discipline. It ensures the smooth process and positive progress of China’s reforms and opening-up and socialist modernisation.

President Xi presented the Silk Road Economic Belt and 21st Century Maritime Silk Road Initiative.

He proposed new type of international relations with win-win cooperation as the core and building the human community of shared destiny.

These proposals presented the world with China’s approaches on how to maintain world peace and promote common development, he added.
