PTCL showcases first online gaming service in Karachi

KARACHI: The Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) showcased Pakistan’s first online gaming service, Pakistan Gaming Lounge (PGL), with a live pro-gaming event at Dolmen Mall in Karachi.

Following the success of similar events in Lahore and Islamabad, the two-day event featured an overwhelming number of young gaming fans drawn in by a chance to compete for numerous cash prizes.

A testament to the growing popularity of eSports, the event was aimed at providing computer gaming enthusiasts first-hand experience of PGL’s superfast game servers. Geared towards promoting broadband hardcore gaming in the country, there were numerous surprise lucky draws with gifts, souvenirs as well as game tournaments. With an overwhelming response from the city’s tech-savvy youth, the event successfully introduced yet another engaging platform for community-based gaming and creative online activities by PTCL.
Aasif Inam, EVP of Product and Pricing at the PTCL, said, “Such activities are held to ensure the country’s youth remain on a par with the rest of the world when it comes to the most cutting edge ICT services.”

The live eSports competition presented an exciting opportunity to help boost the profile of Pakistan’s growing gaming community, providing a unique and integrated platform for the gaming community to socialise and compete on. Featuring intense rivalries, the event witnessed a highly contested tournament amongst Karachi’s top PC gamers, which also included a CSGO top player team taking the top prize for the Counter-Strike Global Offensive competition, followed by Daniyal Imran who scored top position in the Call of Duty tournament.
PGL consists of dedicated multiplayer game servers focusing on hard-core gaming and eSports.
