ISLAMABAD - The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Friday challenged Lahore High Court's (LHC) verdict pertaining to Chaudhry Sher Ali's bail in the Supreme Court.

The accountability bureau alleged that Sher Ali was involved in graft and corruption as the mayor and member of National Assembly (MNA). The bureau official stated that Sher Ali allegdly allotted and sold pieces of land owned by the government. The alleged culprit rendered losses worth billion of Rupees to the national exchequer, he said.

It is pertinent to mention here that the trial court had sentenced Sher Ali to ten years imprisonment and Rs 20 million fine. However, according to the accountability bureau, the high court neglected the facts and granted bail. The Supreme Court was requested to uphold trail court’s verdict and annul order of the high court.
