Chaudhry Shujaat opposes idea of new anti-corruption watchdog
LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Q leader Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain on Saturday opposed proposed amendments in National Accountability laws and formation of new anti-corruption watchdog.
He said the entire process of accountability would become dubious if a new anti-corruption body is formed. Chaudhry Shujaat was of the view that the new body would led to more corruption.
In a statement, he said Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif expressed his weakness by confronting the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
Calling for action against dishonest and corrupt elements in the NAB, Hussain stressed the need for appointment of honest officials.
The PML-Q chief called for amendment in a law under which an investigation officer is rewarded after resolving plea bargain cases.
