Army chief offers funeral prayer for martyred soldiers
Gen Sharif vows complete elimination of terrorism from Pakistan

RAWALPINDI – Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif on Sunday reached Peshawar where he offered funeral prayer for the soldiers who were martyred during a military operation against terrorists in Shawal.

The funeral prayer was offered at the Corps Headquarters which was also attended by senior civil and military leadership, the Inter-Services Public Relations said.

The army chief expressed solidarity with the bereaved families. He also visited the injured soldiers at the Combined Military Hospital in Pakhtunkhwa’s capital.

Later, Corps Commander Lt Gen Hidayatur Rehman briefed General Sharif on the latest progress of operation in Shawal. The army chief expressed his complete satisfaction over the final push in North Waziristan to evict terrorists from the isolated pockets of Shawal, close to the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.

Paying rich tributes to the sacrifices and resilience of soldiers who are courageously fighting terrorists in difficult mountainous area of Shawal, General Sharif said, "We are determined and will go to any length to finish all pockets of terrorists from any nook and cranny of the country."
