Punjab CM defends women protection law

LAHORE - Defending the women’s protection bill, Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that the provincial government is focusing on women empowerment, which is in line with the vision of Quaid-e-Azam.

According to local media reports, Shehbaz’ twitter account posted on Sunday that no society could prosper without uplifting the status of its women.

The historic Punjab Protection of Women Against Violence Bill 2015 that faced a lot of opposition even from the government quarters was finally passed by the Punjab Assembly on February 24.

The list of crimes includes abatement of an offence, domestic, emotional, psychological and economic abuse, stalking and cyber crime.
