Imran asks political leaders to pay taxes
Online
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tareek-e-Insaaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has urged the political leaders to pay taxes honestly and not to steal the public money.
In a series of tweets on Saturday, Imran Khan said, “When leaders are seen as honest tax payers not stealing public money, people will also pay their taxes.”
“Pakistani nation is the most generous charity donor but people need to see their leaders pay taxes and desist from siphoning off public money,” he tweeted. Khan went on to say that federal government’s tax amnesty scheme has failed as it was a scheme to reward tax evaders while penalising honest tax payers. Commenting on police reforms, the PTI chief claimed that KP government for the first time has brought police out of political influence. He said Colonial 1861 Police Act made subservient to political influence while 2002 Police Act sought to alter this was resisted by status quo. Police would be held accountable for the first time before the Public Safety Commission that includes nazims and naib nazims, Khan claimed, adding that this would end ‘thana culture’. Imran urged Punjab and Sindh provinces to depoliticise police.
