PM-orders-measures-to-keep-Torkham-border-open-round-the-clockPrime Minister Imran Khan Monday tasked the relevant government stakeholders to make necessary arrangements within the next six months for the Torkham border to work round the clock.

“I have tasked the relevant govt stakeholders to make necessary arrangements for the Torkham border to work round the clock within next 6 months,” the prime minister posted on his Twitter handle. “This step will be instrumental in boosting bilateral trade and enhancing people to people contacts between the two brotherly countries,” he added.

Meanwhile in a meeting with National Assembly members from Malakand Division, the prime minister said the government was giving special attention towards promotion of tourism keeping in view the existing potential. He said the new visa policy announced by the government would prove to be a milestone for promoting tourism in the country.

The parliamentarians apprised the prime minister on the issues regarding education, health, electricity and gas in their respective constituencies. The prime minister told the delegation that the government would specially focus on hydel projects and other low-cost projects to meet the energy needs of Malakand Division. He said the flights between Peshawar and Malaysia would soon be launched to facilitate the overseas Pakistanis. He also called for solid suggestions to point out the problems confronting the area and their solutions.

The prime minister assured the parliamentarians that priority would be given to the local people for employment on vacancies of up to class-IV. He said the government was also striving to obtain new technologies for exploitation of mineral resources in Swat and Malakand. The meeting was attended by Minister for Communication Murad Saeed, MNAs Dr Haider Ali Khan, Saleem Rehman, Sahibzada Sibghatullah, Mehboob Shah, Bashir Khan, Junaid Akbar and Sher Akbar Khan. Special Assistant to PM Naeemul Haq, Iftikhar Durrani, Spokesman to PM Nadeem Afzal Chan, Malik Amir Dogar and Arshad Dad were also present.

Separately, Pakhtunkhwa Advocate General and Bar Council Chairman Abdul Latif Yousafzai and Sahara Trust Chairman Abrarul Haq called on Prime Minister Imran Khan. On behalf of law officers of the Advocate General Office, Yousafzai presented a cheque worth Rs 2.15 million to the prime minister for the dam fund, PM Office said in a press release. Sahara Trust Chairman Abrarul Haq separately presented a donation of Rs 1 million for the dam fund. Members of the National Assembly and provincial assemblies from Mianwali district also called on the prime minister.
