Pakistan investment conference scheduled for April in London
A major Pakistan investment conference summit is scheduled to take place in April in London, said Sahibzada Jahangir, prime minister’s spokesperson on trade and investment in UK and Europe.
Jahangir met Prime Minister Imran Khan here in Islamabad and briefed him on the arrangements. He also had number of meetings with ministers. Jahangir said this is the first major trade and investment conference which will highlight enormous potential that Pakistan offers to the foreign investors and overseas Pakistanis. He said the conference is expected to be attended by CEO’s of huge number of multi-national companies from UK, Europe and other parts of the world.
Jahangir said overseas Pakistanis are increasingly showing their overwhelming confidence in the leadership of Imran Khan as all international financial institutions indicators are projecting Pakistan as a destination for safe and profitable investment. He further said that foreign remittances are on the rise, the exports are up and the imports under control.
He said Pakistan would be aiming to seek investments in oil and gas infrastructure, tourism, IT, energy, health and education. He further said that government policies are in the pipeline which will help exporters substantially increase their exports of textiles, readymade knitwear, food products, sports and surgical goods, livestock and agricultural products. He said discussions are already underway with major companies to establish their buying houses in Pakistan. However, he urged the exporters to market their products more aggressively by regularly holding roadshows and create awareness and one to one personal contacts with the buyers in UK and Europe which continues to remain huge markets for their products. He said his services are readily available at all times to bridge the gap between the buyers and sellers.
