Malik says govt unwilling to amend Blasphemy Law
KARACHI: Federal Interior Minister Abdul Rehman Malik, giving assurance to masses, has expressed government’s unwillingness to bring amendment in blasphemy law, Geo News reported Saturday.Malik Saturday held meeting with Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman here in Karachi before his departure for Islamabad.
Being thankful to religious leaders and Ulemas, Malik said, “I am grateful to Ulemas over their cooperation extended in dealing with the issue of blasphemy law. Religious clerics and Ulemas saw to it that the protest rallies, strike and demonstrations against amendment in Blasphemy Law should be peaceful and it did happen.”
To a question regarding rifts between MQM and PPP coalition, Malik was of the view that two parties are bound to abide by their ‘manifestos’ but despite that duo enjoy strong alliance.
Briefing media over his meetings with MQM, the minister stated that we had discussed reservations of two parties, claiming that people would hear good news soon.
