No breakthrough in Gilani, Shahbaz talks
LAHORE: A crucial meeting between Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani and Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif ended without any breakthrough, Geo News reported.
According to sources, the two leaders discussed matters relating to politics in the backdrop of heightened political temperature in the country.
The meeting held at the premier's residence.
Punjab CM Shahbaz Sharif would discuss PM's proposal in PML-N's Central Executive Committee meeting which is scheduled to meet in Islamabad tomorrow.
The meeting between the two leaders continued for 1 hour and 50 minutes.
Punjab Chief Secretary and Chairman PMD also attended the meeting.
Before the meeting Shahbaz Sharif met PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif and discussed the political situation. Nawaz Sharif has on various occasions stated that the PML-N would not take part in any move that could derail the system.
The meeting held particular significance in the wake of Muttahida Qaumi Movement's decision announced on Sunday to sit on opposition benches in the National Assembly and the Senate.
After the meeting Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani left for another crucial meeting with PML-Q chief Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain. The PML-Q leader held a meeting with JUI-F team in the morning.
