‘Civil disobedience if POL price hike not withdrawn’
* Imran Khan says rulers were themselves defaulters and all burden being put on poor public

RAWALPINDI: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan on Sunday warned the government of launching civil disobedience if it failed to withdraw hike in fuel prices that gave a blow to the common man struggling to keep intact the relation of his body and soul.
Khan said this while addressing a public meeting at Banni Chowk held against price hike and Reformed General Sales Tax (RGST).
He alleged that the rulers were themselves tax defaulters and all burden was being put on the poor public that has been left with no option but to stand against these corrupt rulers and overthrow them to save the country from further destruction.
He said President Zardari and Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif were befooling the masses and they were not sincere to solve the basis problems of the people. He said their only interest was to enjoy the power without bothering the public miseries. He warned the leaders that the public would not be befooled anymore and soon they have to face the people’s wrath.
Khan said due to corruption and mismanagement the country was passing through severe energy crisis. Due to unavailability of electricity and gas the labour class has suffered a lot as thy have lost their jobs and their families are facing worst form of poverty, he maintained.
The PTI chief said the Pakistani nation was given New Year gift by five drone attacks in Wazirisatan killing the innocent people.
He said people were dying of hunger and unemployment was increasing day by day but the rulers were trying to please their foreign masters by killing innocent people in the name of war on terror. He said price hike had forced people to commit suicides.
He said price hike would push the country to uncertainty in the society in the form of robberies; theft, dacoties and kidnapping for ransom and the poor people are an easy prey for the terrorists’ networks.Khan said to fulfil the IMF demands the government had increased the fuel prices and termed it an alternate to RGST.
Local office-bearers of the PTI also addressed the rally.
